Mary Ann Hobbs

Apart from the fact that she makes a dubstep show for BBC Radio I do not know anything about Mary Ann Hobbs. What I do know is that she packs a mean tune. Fifteen heavy hitters from the diverse dubstep community, to be more precise. Do not think you know anything about dubstep if up till now you only have been exposed to the calmer, more meditative albums of Kode9 and Burial or the rhythmically austere Digital Mystikz 12"'s. Most of the tracks on this compilation aim straight for the dancefloor and are far more militant and hectic when it comes to rhythms and lyrical delivery. Big city paranoia and dub darkness remain the definitive yardsticks though. Exciting, powerful, fun and very now.
